According to USA TODAY, a man was arrested on the night of Tuesday, October 21, after allegedly driving his vehicle into a security checkpoint located on the west side of the White House complex, the U.S. Secret Service reported.

The incident occurred around 10:40 p.m., prompting an immediate response from federal agents responsible for presidential protection.

According to the official statement, officers from the U.S. Secret Service’s Uniformed Division arrested the individual on-site without any injuries reported.

Authorities stated that the vehicle was thoroughly inspected by specialized units from the Secret Service and the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C., which concluded that the car posed no immediate threat.

Secret Service Confirms White House Arrest

The Secret Service issued a statement confirming the arrest and emphasizing the swift containment of the situation.

“The individual was arrested immediately by officers of the U.S. Secret Service’s Uniformed Division. The vehicle was evaluated by the Secret Service and the Metropolitan Police Department and deemed safe,” the agency said.

So far, authorities have not revealed the suspect’s identity nor any details regarding his motives.

It remains unclear whether the man intended to attack the presidential compound or if the event was accidental.

The affected checkpoint is located on the western perimeter of the White House.

That’s one of the most heavily guarded areas in the complex, where access control inspections are routinely performed on authorized vehicles and personnel.

The incident triggered the immediate deployment of additional Secret Service and Metropolitan Police units, which secured the area while inspections were carried out.

Images shared by local media showed officers deploying a bomb-detection robot to inspect the suspect’s vehicle — a dark-colored car that came to rest against the security barriers.

Investigation Continues

Although the Secret Service ruled out the presence of hazardous materials, the case remains under active investigation.

“The situation is under active review, and additional information will be provided once the process is complete,” the agency stated.

Sources familiar with the case confirmed that the suspect was taken to a police facility in Washington, D.C., where he was interrogated by federal agents.

As of now, no formal charges have been filed, and it remains uncertain whether the man acted alone or has connections to prior threats against federal facilities.

Authorities Reinforce Measures

The Secret Service maintains strict security protocols to protect the White House, one of the most secure sites in the world.

Any vehicle approaching restricted zones must undergo electronic screenings, manual inspections, and identity verification.

In recent years, there have been several similar incidents testing the strength of White House security measures.

Despite such events, authorities emphasize that the rapid response system has consistently prevented these situations from escalating into greater risks.

President Safe After White House Security Incident

The incident did not affect the president’s schedule or safety.
According to official sources, President Donald Trump was in the residential wing of the White House at the time.

The area was partially reopened once authorities confirmed there was no remaining threat.

The Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Secret Service will continue coordinating the investigation to determine the suspect’s motives and enhance perimeter security around the presidential compound.

As of this report, no additional details about the suspect or potential legal consequences have been released.
